Microsoft Word, and probably other text document creation software, has built-in word counting software. You can use Word Count for the bookmark name, and then put the code into the address box, in the details section. Enter the Gutenberg project ID number, fill in additional information (how many chapters there are, how the chapter headers are written, etc) and it will return the chapter word counts and the first and last words in the chapter.Ĭreating a new bookmark, with the code below, will count the words in a highlighted piece of text.
